ABOUT US The owners of Clipper Trading Company travel to Southeast Asia and China to hand select our inventory.In China, we found quickly, that the better quality antiques are farther north and further inland. In this cooler climate the trees grow slower and surrender denser, higher quality woods. All of the Chinese furniture found in the Clipper Collection™ is built using wood joinery, an ancient building technique that does not employ nails or glue. From Southeast Asia, we import very nice British Colonial furniture from Myanmar (formerly Burma). Other interesting items for the home or collector are authentic religious objects, wood carvings, and old Burmese lacquer ware such as food vessels, betel boxes, trays and more With a buying office in Asia and our unique American, European and Asian staff we have the opportunity to see the new trends and find some of the best antiques, home decor, gifts and art for reasonable prices. Clipper Trading Co. Inc. was founded in 1998. Because of our ever expanding Asian collection in August 2003 we opened our new, larger store in downtown Savannah at 201 West Broughton Street. Our showroom/gallery occupies two floors and 12,000 square feet in the historic Silver's Five and Dime building with a 3,000 square foot warehouse close-by.Our collection now includes unique Root Wood furniture and art from Thailand, a variety of silver Hill Tribe and contemporary jewelry from the Siam Peninsula, and an enormous collection of large and small items from China and Tibet. We have an ever-changing collection of mostly one-of-a-kind pieces, therefore, we do not have a printed catalog. We are continuously updating our site. Our web site is our catalog but do note only approximately one quarter of our physical inventory is listed online. Contact us with your requirements if you cannot find the items you desire in our online catalog.
