This beautiful hand carved Antique Rosewood Arbor (xylia xylocarpa) arbor was acquired from the India/Pakistan border. It was salvaged from a very old building, witnessing hundreds of people walking beneath it over the years.
In Thai tradition, an elaborate door suggests a heightened status of the interior space. Culturally, doors and windows are considered passages into different realms. Spiritual motifs are carved into the borders to discourage the entry of evil spirits and to protect the building’s dwellers.
