Antique Musician's Surround
Burmese musical instruments are generally embellished with moldings and then highlighted with gold-leaf and inlaid glass. This surround is also known as a “hsaing-waing” in Burma. Generally this piece consists of twenty-one drums, differing in size, attached with leather straps suspended around the interior of the surround. This musical surround is a decorative object made of gilded Camphor wood. Circa: 1870. This piece would be a fantastic and most unique coffee table by adding a glass top.
